4. Case Study : International Call Management
The client’s business is to put suppliers of goods and services
in touch with potential customers. On this occasion they had several
name & address databases of prospective mailshot recipients
in Excel format.
The data which had been entered loosely, that is to say, there
was no formal validation of name and address formats or content;
for example, some of the databases purported to show first, middle,
and last names, to help in surname-handling and mailing, but in
practice there were complete names, including initials, in some
of the fields – and not always in the first one. Address formats
were inconsistent and contained misspellings. Overall there were
many duplications of both names and addresses, some genuine, some
mistakes.
Datamotive analysed these and produced a single database from the
four sources, with obvious duplications removed and queries documented
so that the client could select correct entries.
Based on the postcodes, the physical distance of each address from
the target area centre was calculated so that mailings could be
selected by proximity.
Martin Treogoning, Managing Director of International
Call Management:
"Datamotive responded to my initial enquiry quickly, provided
a highly professional service throughout, and solved problems that
arose during the project".
