Data Management
When a new system is envisaged or an existing one modified one should
assess where the prime sources of data are, how the data flows,
and how individual pieces of data are derived. Once this is established
then the data flows and structures can be reassembled in a format
sympathetic to the new way of working. This may involve changes
to the way in which the data is captured, stored, transmitted or
reported.
In Touch with your Enterprise
Accurate data helps you to know your company’s health –
and how you are perceived by your customers
Better Decisions
Data is a precious resource – the raw material of the decision
process
The way we do it
We are adept at manipulating data so that it is at its most useful
when displayed or reported. This could involve storing part of it
in more than one structure, to optimise the collection, reporting
and updating procedures.
Data Migration
Datamotive is known for its ability to extract data from a variety
of sources, ranging from ”formal” databases such as
Oracle, SQL server, FoxPro or Access, through spreadsheets like
Excel, to more narrative files such as word-processing documents
and e-mails; – even card indexes, bundles of forms in box
files and pieces of paper.
Data Rationalisation
Sometimes it is convenient to bring data to a single database. This
makes it easier to manage, alter and publish data, even if the conversion
to a common format is actually to facilitate a future data separation;
for example, a company may be splitting its operations into two
divisions. Datamotive is used to merging, modifying and splitting
databases.
Data Synchronisation
As far as possible, any piece of data should be held only once This
can sometimes be a limitation, both within a database and within
an organisation, so the rule is sometimes broken. Nevertheless it
is important to understand internal and external data flows to be
able to determine which version of data is correct for which purposes.
Datamotive is experienced in comparing and co-ordinating data, and
providing the means to present discrepancies for manual resolution.
